Buena Vista - Race Update #1
Congratulations on choosing to join us in Buena Vista - Headwaters to Adventure!
Race Date: Saturday, May 10th, 2008

White Water Kayaking - Declaration of Skill Proficiency: (12hr & 24hr Racers Only)
The Buena Vista 12hr & 24hr course has some of the most fun and exciting class II & III whitewater in the State! Kayakers will have a 2-3 mile stretch of river that has several class II and III rapids which will require intermediate paddling skills. This is not to scare you away, if you have done our Vail race with class II+ rapids and feel confident in your ability, then you will have a great time in the Buena Vista 12 Hour race. That said, if you are a beginner paddler and don't know how to paddle a kayak straight or make quick adjustments you should consider the Buena Vista Sprint race instead. Solo kayakers will be required to use inflatable kayaks, no hard shell kayaks will be permitted. Tandem Aire Tomcats are provided to teams of 2 and 4. There will be plenty of river safety along the shore and in kayaks should racers need assistance, but the 12/24 hour kayak section is not for beginner paddlers. All 12/24 hour race participants are required to sign the "Declaration of Skill Proficiency" form to participate in this race. See the certifications page for more information.

The Sprint Race Course has small class I/II- rapids and does not require a paddle skills declaration form, and is more suited to novice paddlers.
