Buena Vista - Gear Drop Locations

Support Crew & Gear Drop Information

Note: Support Crews and Spectators are ONLY allowed at:
Wilderness Aware Rafting, Fisherman’s Bridge and the Start/Finish at Buena Vista South Main Town Square. Due to permit restrictions, parking constraints and safety concerns for participants, Support Crews as well as Spectators are NOT allowed anywhere else along the course. Thank You for your understanding and cooperation.


12hr & 18/24 Hour Participants:
In addition to the start/finish area (South Main Town Square), there is one other “Supported” TA for this course. It is the Kayak to Bike Transition at Fisherman’s Bridge. Support crews will meet teams at Fishermans Bridge. Support Crews please utilize the parking wisely, park on the south side of the parking area. Note: You will also need your ropes gear hear.

You will drop your bike gear, ropes gear, and additional food, water etc.

Unsupported Gear Drop:
If you are doing the race unsupported you will need to drop your gear bin at Fisherman’s Bridge between 7:00pm and 10:00pm Friday night (12hr teams can drop in the morning if necessary 6am-7am). All gear must be labeled with your team number; bikes, paddles and bins. All gear with the exception of your bikes & paddles must fit in your gear bin. Gear bins will be transported back to the finish for you to pick up at the end of the race.

Directions to Fisherman’s Bridge:
From the Start (Buena Vista Park), you will drive west on E. Main until you reach the stop light. Take a left on Hwy 24. Drive South on Hwy 24/285 for approximately 9.4 miles. Then take a left (east) on CR 301. Go across the bridge and take your first right into the Fisherman’s Bridge Recreation Area.


6 Hour Race Participants
There are TWO “Supported” TA’s for this course. The first is at Wilderness Aware Rafting. This is the Trail Run to Kayak Transition. The second TA is at Fisherman’s Bridge. This is the Kayak to Bike transition.

Unsupported Gear Drop:
If you are doing the 6 hour race unsupported you will need to drop your gear bins at both TA locations between 7:00pm and 10:00pm Friday Night or 6:00am and 7:00am on Saturday morning. All gear must be labeled with your team number; bikes, paddles and bins. All gear must fit in your bins except your bike/paddles. Gear bins will be transported back to the finish for you to pick up at the end of the race.

Directions to Wilderness Aware:
From the Start (South Main Town Square), you will drive west on E. Main until you reach the stoplight. Take a left on Hwy 24. Drive South for about 3.8 miles. Take a left (east) on Hwy 285 (Johnson Village), go 1.25 miles crossing over the bridge. Take your first left into Wilderness Aware. Please park on the North side of the building. Staging area is at the top of the boat ramp.

Directions to Fisherman’s Bridge: From Wilderness Aware Rafting take a Right (west) on Hwy 285. Go 1.25 miles and take a left at the Hwy 24/285 intersection. Go South on Hwy 285 for approximately 5.5 miles. Then take a left (east) on CR 301. Go across the bridge and take your first right into the Fisherman’s Bridge Recreation Area.
